Community Engagement Evaluation and Data Coordination (CEED) Hub to Advance Data and Practice Transformation for Optimizing Oral Health for All (U01, Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
National Institutes of Health
Description
The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to seek applications for a Community Engagement Evaluation and Data coordination hub (CEED) for the Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) consortium: Advancing Data and Practice Transformation (ADAPT) for Optimizing Oral Health for All. In addition to CEED, the ADAPT consortium will include separately funded CBPR projects, which will receive consultative services from the NIH Community Engagement Alliance Consultative Resource (CEACR) and join in the Science Collaborative for Health and Artificial Intelligence Reduction of Errors (SCHARE) platform for the overarching goal of promoting data use and transformational community engagement to optimize oral health for all people. The CEED hub will coordinate communications and various activities in support of CBPR projects and consortium functions in three domains:1) Data Planning, Consultation, and Technical Assistance for Research Methodology and Analytics; 2) Community Engagement Evaluation; and 3) ADAPT Infrastructure and Operational Support.

The purpose of the R01 grant program is to (1) improve understanding of the risks and conditions associated with occupational diseases and injuries, (2) identify and evaluate methods to reduce risks and prevent or minimize exposure to hazardous workplace conditions, and (3) translate scientific findings into practical prevention strategies, interventions, and products that reduce work-related illnesses and injuries. The Research Project Grant (R01) supports a discrete, specified research project in scientific areas that reflect the investigator's expertise and interests and that align with the mission of NIOSH. Applicants must concisely describe the occupational health problem their proposal addresses and explain how the proposed research activities will lead to outputs that help address this problem. Applicants should clearly describe the expected impacts of the proposed research, both during the project period and beyond.
The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to support studies that will identify, develop, and/or test strategies for overcoming barriers to the adoption, adaptation, integration, sustainability, scale-up, and spread of evidence-based interventions, practices, programs, tools, treatments, guidelines, and policies (hereafter referred to as evidence-based interventions). Conversely, there is a benefit in understanding circumstances that create a need to stop or reduce (de-implement) the use of practices that are ineffective, unproven, low-value, or harmful. In addition, studies to advance dissemination and implementation research methods and measures are encouraged. Applications that focus on re-implementation of evidence-based health services that may be disrupted amidst disasters (e.g., pandemics) remain relevant. All applications must be within the scope of the mission of one of the Institutes/Centers listed above.

The goal of the proposed funding announcement is twofold, to promote preclinical and patient based studies examining the mechanism(s) through which incretin mimetics (including agonists or antagonists of GLP-1, GIP-1, or dual GLP-1/GIP-1 agents) impact cancer risk, and to draw talented scientists who understand the dynamic changes caused by these agents to investigate the mechanisms of how these agents influence cancer risk rather than shorter term outcomes such as weight loss and diabetes. The data thus far suggests that these agents may increase the risk of some, while decreasing the risk of other obesity related cancers.
